Freddie Wilson transfers to Drexel

Former Hillhouse standout guard Freddie Wilson transferred earlier this month from Seton Hall to Drexel.

Wilson, a former two-time Area Most Valuable Player for the Register, played in eight games this season and averaged just 5.4 minutes and 1.4 points per contest.

When Wilson becomes eligible next December, he will join former Hillhouse teammate Tavon Allen, who is averaging 8.4 points per game as a redshirt freshman.

Career beats Cross in OT

Don't count out the defending SCC Oronoque and SCC tournament champs just yet.

Career beat No. 10 Wilbur Cross 64-62 in overtime Thursday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center. Amos Ford hit the deciding shot with 32 seconds left in OT for the Panthers, who are tied with Cross atop the Oronoque.

The loss snapped the Govs' eight-game winning streak and they will more than likely fall out of the top 10 when the next poll is released on Monday.

Another Elm City battle this evening

Hillhouse is the king in New Haven right now, but two programs with familiarity to that title in years past are looking to win the SCC's Oronoque Division.

Wilbur Cross plays against Career at 6 p.m. at the Floyd Little Athletic Center. Wilbur Cross is currently 9-1 and ranked 10th in the latest Register Top 10 poll. The Governors are currently on a eight-game winning streak.

Career is at 5-4, beating East Haven on Tuesday after losing to both Fairfield Prep and Branford last week. Career is the defending division, SCC tournament and Class L state tournament champion.

Hillhouse still the one

Hillhouse dealt Fairfield Prep its first loss 59-44. Hillhouse had a big scoring run to open the gap before halftime and truthfully, Prep never really recovered.

UConn men's basketball coach Kevin Ollie paid a visit to Alumni Hall, more than likely to see Prep's 7-foot center Paschal Chuwku. It was the second time in the past 11 days Ollie has come to see Chuwku.

See how Chuwku did, and other tidbits from Tuesday night's game, along with a fine video from Mary Albl and slideshow from Mara Lavitt. I promise you both are worth viewing!

Big night of matchups in Fairfield County

It's going to be tough to top Monday's Crosby-Wilby NVL game won by Wilby at the buzzer in double overtime, but there are three great matchups taking place in Fairfield County at 7 p.m.
