Hyde remains undefeated

In a game not reported in Thursday's Register, Hyde remained undefeated by winning at Bassick 83-55. DeShawn Murphy had a game-high 39 points for the Howling Wolves, the No. 5 team in the Register Top 10 poll.

After beating both Crosby and Bassick within five days of each other, there is no question Hyde is one of the best teams in the state, regardless of their Class S status.

Time to turn to 2010

What have we learned in 2009:

Hillhouse lost just one game - it's last one in the 2008-09 season to Crosby inthe Class LL state quarterfinals. The Aacdemics are ranked No. 1 in the current Register Top 10 poll, but there are plenty of challengers:

-Sacred Heart, last year's Class M champion that has since moved up to LL
-Bridgeport Central, which beat Trinity Catholic 101-43 on Dec. 22
-New Britain, possibly the best team in the Central Connecticut Conference
-Stratford, albeit a Class L school, but has already beaten ECC schools New London on the road and East Lyme in its own Christmas tournament.

It should be another interesting run to the Mohegan Sun for the finals. See you all in 2010.
