SCC tournament contingency plan

According to league commissioner Al Carbone, it is stated in the bylaws that if inclement weather postpones the opening round on both Thursday and Friday, then the bottom five teams would be eliminated and the quarterfinals would begin on Saturday at East Haven as scheduled.

Hopefully, that won't be the case.

SCC, CCC tournament pairings, predictions

Both tournaments begin Thursday. If it snows, all games go to Friday.

SCC
FIRST ROUND, 6:30 p.m.

#13 Fairfield Prep (9-11) at #4 Wilbur Cross (14-6) - Cross is playing too well right now.

#11 Career (11-9) at #6 Branford (15-5)  - Career in a low-scoring affair
#10 Lyman Hall (11-9) at #7 Jonathan Law (14-6)  - Law
#9 Hamden (12-8) at #8 Xavier (14-6)  - Xavier

CCC
16 Manchester @ 1 Bristol Eastern
9 Southington @ 8 New Britain

12 Bulkeley @ 5 East Hartford
15 Hartford Public @ 2 EO Smith
10 Weaver @ 7 Windsor
14 Berlin @ 3 Bloomfield
11  Maloney @ 6 East Catholic

predictions: it's hard to go against any of the home teams here, but the once case where an upset may occur is Bulkeley. That team has DeShawn Hamlet back after he missed more than half the season due to disciplinary reasons. Other than that, the home teams will rule in the state's best conference.

SCC tournament pairings

they will become official on Monday night after the final regular-season games in the league. We already know that Hillhouse will be the top seed and that Sheehan and North Haven will be the No. 2 and 3 seeds, respectively, if they both win Monday night. That would mean byes for them into Saturday's quarterfinals.

The remaining 10 teams will play in the opening round on Thursday at the site of the higher seed. Check back tomorrow night for the complete pairings and in Tuesday's print edition of the Register.

Also check out Tuesday's paper for and up-to-date look at the rest of the area league tournaments.
