Stratford escapes again
For the second time this week, Stratford faced a double-figit deficit heading into the fourth quarter and also for the second time, Stratford prevailed.
On Thursday night, Stratford trailed Pomperaug 50-36 heading into the fourth quarter, yet held Pomperaug to just five points in the fourth quarter and rallied for a 59-55 win. Pomperaug hit just two baskets in the quarter and really fell apart against Stratford's aggressive defense.
On Tuesday, Stratford trailed Newtown by 15 heading into the fourth quarter and rallied on the road for the win, thanks to Russell Payton's four-point play.
Stratford is good enough to overcome these defeicits, but cannot continue to turn it on and off any time. Eventually, that will come back to bite the state's fourth-ranked team.
