Game of the Year, part II
The first "Game of the Year" was the NVL battle between Holy Cross and Crosby on Jan. 14. Both teams came in undefeated. The game lived up to the hype as Holy Cross blew a 14-point lead late, but still managed a 67-65 win. Both teams are still ranked in the Register Top 10 poll.
The seocnd Game of the Year is tonight as top-ranked New London hosts No. 8 Hartford Public. This is an even better matchup for one big reason - it is a non-conference game. How often do you get top 10 matchups featuring two teams from different leagues during the regular season? Not very often.
So try to get out of work early and make the trip to New London. There's plenty of good restaurants along the way (might I suggest Flanders in East Lyme) and the two casinos await after the game ends.
But get to the game early to see the state's best backcourt - Kris Dunn and Torin Childs-Harris for New London. If New London wins here, the Whalers will stay undefeated until the postseason and might very well run the table.
